A VOLUNTEER FOR VERONA.
Since 2018, Corey and his wife, Melanie, along with their two sons, Max and Oliver, have been living in the Forest section of Verona. Over the past 3 years, Corey has had the pleasure of serving Verona as a member and Chairperson of the Parks & Advisory Committee, as well as the Open Space Trust Committee. After being appointed to an unexpired term this past June, it is now his extraordinary honor to currently serve on the Verona Township Council.
As for his private sector experience, Corey has spent the past two decades building his career in the supermarket industry.
Upon joining his family's 75 year-old business, Corey became a 3rd generation merchandiser, operator, and auditor to some of the largest supermarket retailers, convenience stores, manufacturers, and wholesale distributors across the country. His primary focus over the last several years has involved his work with Palermo Bakery in Little Ferry, NJ, overseeing the sales
division while generating sales and revenue for the entire company.
The pride and joy of Corey’s life is his family. He enjoys spending time with them at the Verona Pool, visiting aquariums and zoos, going fishing, or simply playing together in their backyard. Corey looks forward to continuing his service as a Council Member, working hard to move Verona forward.
Over the past 3 years, Corey has had
the opportunity and honor of serving as
the Chairperson of the Recreational
Advisory Board (Rec Committee) along
with the Open Space Committee as he has been extremely proud of their numerous
accomplishments which have already had
a beneficial impact on Verona including:
a) a detailed cost analysis report for
existing and proposed recreation
programs
b) a recommendation and the
implementation of a new sliding scale
fee structure for all recreational
programs. This structure will keep
programs affordable for qualifying
families while providing additional
revenues to support the Recreation
Department in general. It will also
ease program dependency on
taxpayer monies.
c) guidance on Everett Field
d) addressing and improving marketing /social media outlets for informational
purposes for residents.
e) addressing and updating
Recreational Program Scheduling
f) discussions on field surface solutions
for Centennial Field and a
recommendation for further options.
Corey’s signature project over the last 3 years has been a focus upon the “Verona Community Pool.” Under his leadership, the Rec Committee executed a comprehensive financial overhaul complete with numerous budget projections, scenarios, and possible outcomes to ensure its long-term financial health. Corey spent years directly working with the Administration, the Township Council, the Township’s hired consultant NexGen, former members of the
Rec Committee, residents, and pool members to establish new forms of revenue generation to secure and sustain the Verona Pool’s financial stability. Overall, Corey along with the Rec Committee developed a long-term strategic plan for all key stakeholders, outlining required
revenues, costs and scenarios necessary to pull the pool out of the financial deep end.
He can proudly say the Pool is now on a path to financial success and stability with the ultimate goal of building a financial safety net to support this cherished community
asset going forward.
PUBLIC SECTOR EXPERIENCE.
In the public sector, Corey started as an intern for the late Congressman Bill Pascrell Jr. and then as an employee in New Jersey’s 8th Congressional District. He went on to become Educational Director at Hands In 4 Youth in West Milford, NJ before pivoting to the private sector working at the Ireland Chamber of Commerce-USA as their Development Director.
He has also served on numerous Boards andCommittees over the last two decades.

Corey joined his family business, one that has spanned over 75 years, as a 3rd generation merchandiser, operator and auditor to one of the largest supermarket retailers, convenience stores, manufacturers, and wholesale distributors across the country.
His primary focus over the last several years has been his work with Palermo Bakery in Little Ferry, NJ overseeing the Sales division while generating revenue/sales for the entire company. This career has proven to be an ultimate privilege, giving Corey the opportunity to service a vast variety of customers throughout the country.
His private sector experience includes budget analysis, operations, revenue generation, billing, financial auditing, marketing, merchandising, branding, service contracting, retail sales and product development. Additionally, his business experience has given him a prodigious opportunity to communicate with people from all walks of life and from all different parts of the country, further preparing him to communicate clearly and effectively with fellow Council Members, the administration and most importantly members of the public.
Corey graduated from William Paterson University in 2004 with a BA in Political Science and again in 2007 with an MA in Public Policy & Administration.
